Upgrade Windows Tips

Upgrading Windows is important for security, and it gives you new functionally.  Below is some useful tips that will help you upgrade your Windows PC to the latest version of Windows.

  1. Unless you really must have the latest and greatest wait to see if there are any problems with the upgrade you are going upgrade to see if there are any issues.
  2. Backup up your PC.  You should be doing this no matter what anyway.
  3. Do your homework to see if you have any odd or custom made software to make sure it is compatible with the version of Windows you are upgrading too.
  4. Do your home to see if your hardware is compatible.  After upgrading Windows you might have to go to the hardware manufacturer’s website to get the latest drivers.
  5. Uninstall any software you do not use.  This helps to free up space on your hard drive, and might get rid of any incomparable software.
  6. Run Disk Cleanup.
  7. Download Microsoft’s Media creation tool.  This will allow you to install you to install / upgrade more then once. To get it do an internet search for Windows Media creation tool.  Just make sure you get it from Microsoft.
  8. Turn off your Antivirus temporary while upgrading Windows.  This cuts down on any conficts your antivirus might cause while upgrading Windows.
  9. One thing you might want to consider is to to do any upgrade where you start out from scratch. That will do spring cleaning, which will get rid any of junk you have on your PC.  This will also cut down on any problems you might encounter when upgrading Windows.
  10. If your PC is a 3+ years old you might want to buy a new PC, which should come the latest version of Windows.
