Are you looking to buy a new Windows computer for you, or someone you know. If so below is some advice I think you will find useful.
- How much money should I spend – Cost is important because for the simple reason you get what you pay for. In 2024 I suggest that you spend at least $700.
- Are you going to mobile or stationary? If you are going to be mobile then get a laptop. If stationary then get a PC.
- Processor aka CPU for short – The computer’s processor depends on what you are going to do with your computer. I suggest that you look at the following article AMD vs Intel: which CPUs are better? (2023) – PC Guide for more information. For Gamers I suggest either Intel i7 or i9 13th Gen. For every one else I believe you can get back with an Intel i5 or greater 13th Gen.
- Memory also know as RAM – I suggest at least 16GB or more. Most people can get get buy with only 16GB of RAM, but I suggest that you get at least 32 GB of RAM. 32 GB of RAM gives you room for growth.
- Storage – I suggest at least 512GB SSD or greater. The more internal storage the better. If you can you might want to consider a second SSD to separate your programs separate from your data.
- Screen Size – This is matter of preference. For a laptop I suggest either a 17 or 18 inch screen. For a PC I suggest you just look at the monitors and decide what you like and can afford.
- Sound – Sound is also a preference. If sound is important and you are using a laptop I suggest you get an Alianware laptop if you are buying a laptop, because they offer the most bang for your buck. If you are buying a PC or you do not mind lugging around extra equipment then I suggest you buy extra speakers. - Windows 11 Version – The version of Windows is up to you. Pro offers more bells and whistles. Check out Windows 11 Pro vs Home: What’s the difference? | Tom’s Guide (tomsguide.com) for more information. For most people the Home version is good enough. You can always upgrade to Pro later if you wish.
