How To Disable /Enable Duo Security

Even though security is important sometimes you need to disable duo some work on a PC.

To disable do the following.

  1. Boot into Safe mode by holding down Shift while clicking on the restart button.
  2. Select Enable Safe Mode from the Advanced Options under Troubleshoot
  3. Type regsvr32 /u “C:\Program Files\Duo Security\WindowsLogon\DuoCredFilter.dll” at an evaluated CMD
  4. Type regsvr32 /u “C:\Program Files\Duo Security\WindowsLogon\DuoCredProv.dll” at an evaluated CMD
  5. Restart PC.
  6. Do what you need to do.

To Reenable Duo do the following:

  1. Restart again into Safe Mode.
  2. Type regsvr32 “C:\Program Files\Duo Security\WindowsLogon\DuoCredFilter.dll” at an evaluated CMD
  3. Type regsvr32 “C:\Program Files\Duo Security\WindowsLogon\DuoCredProv.dll” at an evaluated CMD
  4. Restart PC.

You can create a batch file for both disabling / enabling Duo that you can use in safe mode. I hope you find this article useful.
